🎭 History

Boomerang Theater began its journey in Iran in 2005, with a focus on creating socially engaged performances for children, young audiences, and women-centered stories.
From its earliest productions — such as The Very Short Life, Project Rouge, and The Blood of Rouge — the group explored human vulnerability, humor, and resilience within contemporary social realities.

In 2014, Boomerang re-established its work in Germany, based in the city of Essen, where it evolved into an intercultural and multilingual collective.
Through collaborations with Iranian and European artists, the company developed a distinct voice that bridges personal and political themes — migration, identity, womanhood, and belonging.

Since then, Boomerang has produced and performed original works including
The Love of Phaedra, Café Polcherie, Ghourmeh Sabzi with Avocado Topping, and Apartment – Fifth Floor Berlin,
presented at festivals and venues across London, Montreal, Berlin, Cologne, and Düsseldorf.

Alongside stage productions, Boomerang has expanded its artistic practice into film, puppet-based teleplays for children, and radio theatre projects, reaching diverse audiences through multiple forms of storytelling.
The group also conducts educational workshops for children, youth, and migrant communities, using theatre as a platform for creativity, empathy, and cultural dialogue.
